Collect card payments through your Stripe account
Customers pay online through Stripe Checkout or at the counter on a Stripe Terminal reader. Payment and refund updates return to the invoice in BenchKey.
Collect through Stripe Checkout or Terminal
Stripe handles the card payment through your account, and BenchKey records the payment against the repair invoice.
- Online card payments
- Customers open their invoice link to pay through hosted Stripe Checkout. Staff can also create a "Stripe card link" from checkout.
- Readers assigned by location
- Assign Stripe Terminal readers to BenchKey locations so counter staff can collect card payments in person.
- Refund updates on the invoice
- Issue refunds from the invoice. Refunds made in your Stripe dashboard also sync back to BenchKey.

Common questions
Setup guide Stripe payments setupDoes BenchKey add a processing fee?
No. Card payments go through your own Stripe account at Stripe's normal rates. BenchKey adds no markup, and Stripe bills its own processing fees.
Do I need Pro or Business to connect Stripe?
No. Standard includes Stripe payments too. You need your own Stripe account, with business setup complete, and a Stripe Terminal reader only for in-person cards.
What happens if Stripe sends the same payment update twice?
BenchKey ignores repeated event notifications from Stripe. Receiving the same event again does not create another payment entry.
Will a refund made in Stripe appear in BenchKey?
Yes. Refunds made in the Stripe dashboard sync back to BenchKey. Staff can also issue a refund from the invoice.
