Card payments go through your own account
Stripe or Square processes the payment through your shop's account and handles payouts to you. BenchKey records the confirmed payment on the ticket.
Keep your provider account
Connect your existing Stripe or Square account with a guided sign-in. There are no connection keys to copy.
No BenchKey payment markup
Your provider charges its normal processing rates. BenchKey adds no markup to your card payments.
Offer Affirm financing
Connect Affirm on any plan. US and Canadian businesses can offer monthly payments on large invoices through the Pay with Affirm button.
Keep the payment history with the repair
Record cash, collect deposits and apply payments already on file. The invoice shows the balance still due, with corrections and refunds linked to the original payment.
Cash and change
Open the store's register before taking cash. Enter what the customer hands you; BenchKey shows the change before you record the payment.
Deposits and partial payments
Split cash by amount or percentage. The invoice stays partly paid until settled. Apply previous payment links an existing payment without collecting it again.
Corrections stay on record
Recorded payments cannot be edited or deleted. Voids and refunds add new entries to the invoice's payment history.
Refunds you can trace
Refund eligible card payments through the original provider. Each refund links to the payment and register feed. A pending refund isn't complete.
Check payment options for your country
Online cards and counter readers depend on Stripe or Square availability in your country. Cash and manual payments can still be recorded where online cards aren't supported.
BenchKey does not issue certified fiscal receipts or e-invoices. Keep using any fiscal system your country requires.

Payments and hardware questions
Can customers pay without a card reader?
Yes. Send a payment link, let them pay on the ticket's status page, or record cash. A reader is needed only for card payments at the counter.
Can I keep my Stripe or Square account?
Yes. BenchKey connects to your shop's own Stripe or Square account. Sign in to connect it, then select the provider in payment settings.
Does BenchKey add payment processing fees?
BenchKey adds no markup to payments. Your provider charges its normal processing rates.
Which card readers work with BenchKey?
Stripe Terminal readers such as the S700, and Square Terminal. Register the reader with its provider first, then assign it to your store in BenchKey. Mobile Bluetooth readers and phone tap-to-pay aren't supported.
Which printers can I use?
BenchKey Printing supports Zebra, Brother, DYMO and most thermal receipt printers through a Windows or Mac computer, where available on Pro and Business. Every plan can print through the browser using a printer the browser can access.
Can I print from a phone or iPad?
You can use the device's browser print dialog. Direct printing needs a Windows or Mac shop computer connected to the printers, using the PrintNode or BenchKey Print Connector setup shown in Settings.
Can I take cards when the internet drops?
Card payments, payment links and financing need a connection. Beta offline mode can record cash, check and other manual payments when available for your workspace. It does not authorize card payments.
