The other half of a repair shop: buying and reselling devices
Take in trade-ins and buybacks, track every dollar of refurb cost, list them for sale, and see the real margin when they sell — all in the same system as your repairs. In beta on the Pro plan, and off until you switch it on.
Recorded from the real app: open Lando Calrissian’s refurbished iPhone dossier, price it at $299, promote it to Inventory, and watch the pipeline recalculate a real +$124 margin.
One board from bought to sold
Every device you buy moves through a pipeline you can see at a glance: Intakes, Bought, In refurb, For sale, Sold. Each unit is a card with its photo, serial or IMEI, and its money story — what you paid, what you are asking, and the margin in between. A KPI strip across the top shows invested, listed value, sold in the last 30 days, and your average days-to-sell, so you know whether the back shelf is working capital or dead stock.
The profit math is kept for you
Buy a phone for $80, put a $35 screen in it, list it at $189. Every cost you add to a unit accrues against it, so the margin you see is the real one, not a guess. When the device sells through checkout, the sale is linked to the unit automatically and it moves to Sold with the final number; refund a sale and the unit reopens for resale. You never reconcile a spreadsheet against the bench.
Buy one at the counter or a box of fifteen
A walk-in trade-in is a thirty-second intake: seller, payout, device, condition, price. A distributor lot is a wholesale batch — buy fifteen at one per-unit cost, then list them all with one price in a couple of clicks. Held buybacks wear a lock badge with the date the hold clears, so a device that legally has to sit for a week can’t be sold by accident.
Paper and proof, handled
Every buyback prints or emails a branded receipt the seller signs, and each unit keeps a journey trail — arrived, refurbished, listed, sold — in plain sentences, not database slugs. When you want the numbers, the Buy/Sell report shows what you bought, what you sold, and the profit, split by unit or by wholesale batch.
Honest about where it is
Buy/Sell is in beta and lives on the Pro plan, and it stays completely off until you turn it on in Settings — shops that don’t resell devices never see it. The pipeline, cost tracking, wholesale batches, and profit report are live today; it plugs into the same checkout, inventory, and device history you already use.
FAQ
Buy, sell & trade-in questions
Do I have to use this if I only do repairs?
No. Buy/Sell is off by default and only appears when you switch it on in Settings. If you never resell devices, nothing changes about your shop.
How does the margin stay accurate?
Every cost you add to a unit — the purchase price, a replacement part, labor you choose to book against it — accrues on that unit. The margin shown is asking price minus everything you have in it, so it’s the real number, not a sticker guess.
What happens when a refurbished device sells?
You sell it through the same checkout you use for repairs. The sale links to the unit automatically, the unit moves to Sold with the final price, and the profit lands in the Buy/Sell report. Refund the sale and the unit reopens for resale.
Can I buy a whole lot at once?
Yes. A wholesale batch takes a quantity and a per-unit cost and mints that many units at Bought in one step, then lists them all with a single asking price. Buying fifteen and listing fifteen is a couple of clicks, not fifteen forms.
What plan is it on?
The Pro plan, and it’s in beta. It rides the same Pro tier as leads, integrations, and advanced reports.
