Languages

English is the launch language for account setup. BenchKey has 33 app and customer-message language options; languages other than English are in beta, with some areas still in English. Two choices are separate: the language your team sees in the app, and the language your customers receive in emails, texts, receipts and their repair page.

Your shop’s languages

Open Settings → Languages (owners and admins).

• Team app language: what everyone in your shop sees in BenchKey. Your screen switches right away; teammates see it the next time BenchKey loads.
• Customer language: the default for supported customer emails, texts, receipts, invoices, estimates, PDFs, the customer portal, mail-in form and lead widget auto-replies. Coverage varies by surface; booking and on-site visit pages currently offer English and Spanish.

A customer’s own language on their record always wins. A change applies to the next thing you send; anything already sent stays as it was. Anything your shop wrote itself, like status names and your own templates, is sent as written.

Your own language

Anyone can pick a different language just for themselves: open My Profile → Display preferences → Language. It replaces the team language on your screen only; customers still get their own language. Choose Team language to go back to the shop’s setting.

One customer’s language

Open the customer’s record and set Preferred language. Emails and texts to that customer use it. Shop default follows your customer language.

What stays in English

Languages other than English are in beta. A few things still show in English: ticket status and queue names, some error messages, and notifications. Also in English:

• the email that invites a teammate to your shop,
• some billing messages,
• the Terms and Privacy Policy (the English version controls),
• most of these help pages. The most-used pages are also in Spanish and Portuguese (Brazil); choose the language at the top of any help page.
