Cancel, export or delete your shop

The shop owner does all three from Settings. Your data is yours: export a copy before you cancel or delete, because BenchKey only promises to keep it for a limited time after your account ends (see Your data after you leave).

  1. Open Settings → Billing & Payments → Payments and scroll to the bottom.
  2. Choose Manage subscription (owner only). The billing portal opens.
  3. Cancel the subscription there.

Cancelling stops the renewal. You keep full access until the end of the month you’ve paid for, and Plan & Billing shows the date it ends. There’s no cancellation fee; refunds follow the Terms.

When the paid period ends, BenchKey pauses behind a Subscription needed screen. Nothing is deleted at that point: the owner can request a workspace export from that screen, subject to the controls below, and choosing a plan again opens the shop where you left off. Founders pricing comes back if you return within 60 days.

  1. Open Settings → System → Export Data (owner only).
  2. Choose Export your data. If BenchKey asks you to sign in again, do, then come back within 5 minutes.
  3. Wait for Export is ready, then choose Download. Keep the file somewhere private.

You get one ZIP file with:

  • CSV files you can open in a spreadsheet or import into another system,
  • JSON files for included records,
  • included attachments, with a manifest of contents and exclusions,
  • a data dictionary and a checksum to check the file’s integrity.

Signatures and ID images are left out unless you choose Export including sensitive data. Recent authentication and a daily export limit apply. Exports remain available during a pending request or scheduled cooling period. New exports are blocked once deletion is approved or executing. Review the manifest; the archive does not include every external-provider record or retained artifact. The file downloads in your browser; it is never emailed or put on a public link. If a finished export is no longer available, start a new one.

The owner can also export from the screen shown when a trial or subscription has ended (Export my data).

If your Settings has Account → Delete shop:

  1. Download your data first (step 1 on the page).
  2. Read what gets deleted and what BenchKey has to keep, and why (for example, records the law requires).
  3. Type your shop’s name and choose Delete shop in 7 days. Your plan stops renewing that day, with no refund for the rest of the period.

You have 7 days to change your mind: choose Cancel deletion any time before the date shown. Disconnect any linked accounts the page lists first.

If self-serve deletion isn’t offered: export your data before deletion begins. Exports remain available during a pending request or scheduled cooling period. New exports are blocked once deletion is approved or executing. Then open Settings → Account → Delete shop and choose Request Data Deletion under Data deletion. BenchKey confirms with you before anything is deleted. A deletion request doesn’t cancel your plan: cancel it first (above) so you aren’t charged again.

  • The day your plan ends nothing is deleted. The shop pauses, and the owner can still choose Export my data.
  • After your account ends, the Terms (section 11.4) give you 30 days to request an export of your data, which BenchKey then provides in a commercially reasonable format unless the law prevents it.
  • After those 30 days, BenchKey may delete your data, apart from what the Privacy Policy and Data Processing Addendum require us to keep and leftover copies in routine backups.

So download your export before you go, and keep the file somewhere private.

Deleting your whole shop is different from one of your customers asking to be forgotten. See Privacy tools.
