Signing in, two-step and lost access
You sign in at app.benchkey.com with the email address your shop knows you by. The sign-in page offers the ways to sign in that BenchKey has turned on, such as a password, a one-time code sent to your email, or Google.
Section titled “Sign in”- Go to app.benchkey.com. You see Welcome back.
- Sign in with your email address, using any of the options shown.
- Invited shops should follow their invitation. Public access is paused; join the waitlist for access updates.
Staff: always use the exact email address your shop owner invited. A different address, even one of your own, isn’t connected to the shop.
Forgot your password
Section titled “Forgot your password”On the sign-in form, choose Forgot password?, then Reset your password and follow the code sent to your email. You can also choose sign in with another method, such as an email code.
To change your password while signed in: open Settings → Account → My Profile. You can reach Settings or My Profile from the avatar menu in the top bar; on a phone, choose More, then your name. In the Password card, choose Manage password, then Security → Update password.
Two-step verification
Section titled “Two-step verification”Two-step verification asks for a code from your phone after your password, so a stolen password isn’t enough to get into your shop.
- Open Settings → Account → My Profile. In Two-step sign-in, choose Turn on two-step sign-in or Manage two-step sign-in.
- In the window that opens, choose Security → Two-step verification → Add two-step verification.
- Pick an authenticator application (such as Google Authenticator or 1Password) or a text-message code, and follow the steps.
- Save your backup codes somewhere safe. Each one gets you in once if you lose your phone.
If you don’t see Two-step verification in that window, it isn’t available for your account yet. Owners: turn it on first; you hold the keys to the shop.
Staff: joining your shop
Section titled “Staff: joining your shop”- Your owner (or an admin) invites you from Settings → Team & Access → Members → Invite member.
- You get an email inviting you to the shop. Choose Sign in to BenchKey.
- Sign in with the same email address. A one-time code arrives by email.
The invitation works for 7 days. If it expires, ask the owner to send a new one.
If you see Access Denied saying the account is not connected to a shop yet, you signed in with a different email address. Choose Sign out and sign in again with the address you were invited with.
Owners: re-invite or remove someone
Section titled “Owners: re-invite or remove someone”Owners, and admins who can invite team members, do this in Settings → Team & Access → Members:
- Resend invite appears when an invitation has expired or failed. Copy invite link gives you the link to send another way.
- To cancel an invitation or take away someone’s access, open the row’s menu (⋮) and choose Remove member. It also signs them out everywhere.
Only the owner can change or remove an Admin. See Team & roles for what each role can do.
If you lose access
Section titled “If you lose access”Staff: ask your owner to send a new invitation. If your email address changed, they remove the old one and invite the new one.
Owner: first try Forgot password? or another sign-in method on the sign-in page. If you no longer have your email or phone, email support@benchkey.com from any address with:
- your shop’s name and the owner email address,
- the last 4 digits of the card on your BenchKey plan,
- a recent BenchKey invoice number,
- a business document with your name on it (attach it).
BenchKey restores owner access only after checking these, because whoever holds the owner account holds the shop.
Tip: give a trusted teammate the Admin role. If you’re ever locked out, they can keep the shop running while you get back in.
”Sign in again” before some actions
Section titled “”Sign in again” before some actions”A few actions need a sign-in within the last 5 minutes: changing roles and permissions, API keys, and exporting your data. If you see Sign out, sign in again, then retry within 5 minutes, do exactly that and try again.
Signing out
Section titled “Signing out”Open the avatar menu in the top bar and choose Sign out. On a phone, choose More, then your name and Sign out. To sign out of other devices, open My Profile → Manage password → Security and choose Sign out of device next to any device under Active devices.
